What is Zide, exactly?

Zide is a native desktop workflow environment for software development.

It brings together the surfaces developers use every day: projects, issues, AI assistance, git, CI, and pull requests. Zide is designed to help developers manage the full development workflow from one place.

It is not simply an AI code editor. Most developers can continue using their preferred editor alongside Zide. Zide focuses on the workflow layer: understanding tasks, guiding AI, reviewing changes, managing git, and moving work toward a pull request.

What problem does Zide solve?

Modern development workflows are fragmented across issue trackers, editors, AI assistants, git tools, CI dashboards, and pull-request systems. Each tool may understand its own part of the process, but developers remain responsible for connecting the full workflow.

Zide brings more of that workflow together so developers can guide AI, manage projects, review work, and move development forward with less context switching.

Does Zide replace my code editor?

No.

Zide is not designed to replace every developer's editor. Many developers will continue using VS Code, Cursor, Neovim, JetBrains tools, or another editor they already like.

Zide focuses on the workflow layer around the editor: projects, issues, AI-guided development, git, CI, and pull requests.

Does Zide support multiple projects?

Yes.

Supporting developers who move across multiple projects is one of the core reasons Zide exists.

When developers switch projects, they should not have to manually reset context across a stack of disconnected tools. Zide is designed to make project switching cleaner by bringing more of the workflow into one application.

AI and models

How Zide Assist, hosted models, local models, and provider choices fit together.

Does Zide support both server-based and local AI models?

Yes. Zide Assist provides access to strong server-based AI models, which offer the primary experience for most users. Zide also supports local models for power users and advanced workflows.

Zide is AI platform-agnostic by design, giving developers flexibility to choose models and providers based on the task, project, and level of control they need.

What does Zide Assist actually do?

Zide Assist helps developers use AI to work through real development tasks.

Instead of only providing autocomplete or chat, Zide Assist is designed to help with broader development work: understanding an issue, using project context, proposing changes, and helping the developer review and move the work forward.

The developer remains in control. Zide Assist is there to accelerate the workflow, not hide it.

Which AI models does Zide support?

Zide is designed to be AI platform-agnostic.

It supports leading server-based models through Zide Assist and gives developers flexibility in choosing the right model for the task. Zide also supports local models for power users who want to experiment with local AI workflows.

The goal is to give developers choice instead of tying the product to one model provider.

Is my code used to train AI models?

It depends on the model provider and how you connect to it. When you use a server-based model through Zide Assist, your code is sent to that provider to generate a response, and the provider's own data-handling and retention policies govern what happens to it from there — Zide does not use your code to train any models itself.

If you configure your own API key for a provider, requests are sent under your account and are subject to that provider's terms for API usage, which often differ from their consumer-product terms.

For teams or individuals with stricter requirements, local models keep code on your own machine and do not send it to a third-party provider at all.

Comparisons

How Zide differs from editor-first AI tools and dedicated git clients.

How is Zide different from AI code editors?

Many AI coding tools are built around the editor. They are often excellent for writing and editing code, but architecturally they are still Editor + AI.

Zide is different because it starts from the broader workflow.

The future of development is not only about typing code faster. It is increasingly about managing AI through the development process: selecting the right task, providing context, reviewing changes, managing git, checking builds, and preparing work for review.

Zide is built for that workflow.

How is Zide different from Cursor?

Cursor is an excellent AI-first code editor. If a developer wants deep editor integration, inline completions, and a VS Code-based experience, Cursor is a strong product.

Zide is different because it is focused on the full development workflow rather than only the editor surface.

Zide brings together projects, issues, AI assistance, git, CI, and pull requests in a native application. Some developers may use Zide alongside Cursor or another editor because the products solve different parts of the workflow.

How is Zide different from GitKraken?

GitKraken is a mature and polished git client.

Zide is broader. It includes git workflow capabilities, but it is also designed around AI-assisted development, project context, issue-to-PR workflows, and multi-project management.

Zide is not only a git GUI. It is a workflow environment for modern software development.

Billing

Checkout, subscriptions, invoices, and where to get help.

Why does checkout open on Polar?

Polar provides Zide's secure checkout and is Zide's merchant of record. It processes subscription payments and handles applicable sales tax and VAT.

You are purchasing Zide, and Zide remains responsible for the product, your account, and customer support.

Why does Polar appear on my receipt, invoice, or card statement?

Because Polar processes the transaction as Zide's merchant of record, its name may appear on receipts, invoices, billing emails, or card statements for a Zide purchase.

If you do not recognize a charge, compare it with the purchases shown in your Zide account. If something still looks wrong, contact Zide support or use the order-support information on your Polar receipt. Do not send full payment-card details, security codes, or license keys.

Where do I manage my subscription, payment method, or invoices?

Start in the Zide account portal. You can review your subscription and credits there and access the available billing actions for your account.

Who should I contact about a billing or subscription problem?

Contact Zide support for questions about your plan, account, activation, license, entitlements, or credits. Polar provides support for payment, receipt, invoice, and return issues through the contact information included with checkout and your order.

If you are not sure where the problem belongs, start with Zide support and we will help route it.
